On your mark, get set, GO 3rd and 4th graders

Thank you to the REC students and families for the amazing Race for Education fundraising efforts. Students raised over $25,000.00 for our school from donations across 30 different states. Throughout the three weeks of fundraising, students were excited to see which classrooms would be delivered the Golden Sneaker for achieving different fundraising goals and excitement was building each week as the school got closer and closer to sending their Principal, Mrs. Ward, to spend 24 hours on the school roof.

The culminating Race for Education event was held on Friday, October 17th. Third and Fourth graders enjoyed a one mile race on the school grounds and then all grade levels enjoys a walk through the beautiful streets of the Whispering Pines neighborhood. It was a beautiful morning to celebrate the students' efforts to join together to make a difference at their school. The money raised will help teachers provide meaningful learning experiences to students, help fund field trips and assemblies at REC, and help appreciate our REC staff throughout the year.

Mrs. Ward set up camp on the roof the next week and the students enjoyed delivering her snacks and items to help her pass the time at night. Many families visited her after school to check on her and deliver her hot chocolate and hot hands. These items were much appreciated due to temperatures dipping into the 40s at night. Channel 69 News got word of the Principal on the Roof and Robeson Elementary Center ended up on the news not once, but twice.

Thank you to the REC PTO for everything they do to support our school and getting our school community involved in so many capacities. We appreciate everything the PTO does for our students and staff.
