Friendship Fire Company visiting our REC students

The Robeson Elementary students and staff would like to thank the Friendship Fire Company for visiting our school on Monday, October 6th. The first week of October is Fire Safety Month and students in grades K through 3 enjoyed 30 minutes with Firefighter Wright, Firefighter Ranck, and Firefighter Vanlew as they learned about fire safety and how firefighters help our community in many different ways.

Kindergarten talked about the equipment firefighters use and showed students around the truck. They also talked about not being afraid of a fireman when they see them in their gear. Did you know Miss Borkowski is a volunteer firefighter and showed students what she looks like when she must fight a fire.

The conversation with 1st graders focused on community helpers and the students learned about how the fire company helps people in the community…not just to fight fires, but other types of events that a firetruck responds to or education that they provide for the public.

The 2nd graders learned about fire safety and the importance of having a plan in case of an emergency. The firefighters told the students how important it is to practice what to do at school and at home if a fire the fire alarm would go off.

3rd graders discussed fire safety in the home. They learned what can cause a fire in the home and how to prevent a fire from happening. The morning was filled with great questions and a chance to interact with our local fire company in a positive way. REC is looking forward to partnering with Friendship Fire Company for future events.
