#ThrowbackThursday: Remember the students of Elverson Grammar School from our previous post? Here they are in 1914! This class was the first to graduate after the school’s major expansion.
Just two years after that 1912 photo, these students were learning in the newly added classrooms that marked a turning point for the growing district. The original school, established in 1873, was a one-room schoolhouse serving all eight grades. As enrollment increased, the school board approved an expansion in 1913. By 1914, a two-room addition was completed, one room for grades 1–4, and the other for grades 5–8.
