This year Robeson Elementary Center students and staff will be reading together during our One School, One Book program. During the months of January, February, and March all of our students and staff will be reading the book, The Tale of Despereaux. Everyone will be given their own copy of the book and we are asking students and their families to read the book following the schedule listed below. Throughout the two months, we will have a variety of activities going on at school related to The Tale of Despereaux. We will be asking weekly trivia questions on the morning announcements. Those questions will be preparing our students for the culminating activity, which will be the The Tale of Despereaux Community Trivia Night. Trivia night will include a pizza party and trivia contest.
The One School, One Book program is designed to create a shared reading experience for all of our Robeson students, staff, and families. Every student and staff member will receive a copy of the book, The Tale of Despereaux. Everyone reads the book independently or together with their family. We will have activities at school to promote and enrich the shared reading experience. The program is modeled after All City Reads that have been done across the United States. We are very excited to have everyone in our school reading the same book. All of the students and staff will be able to talk about the book; what they liked, what they didn’t like, favorite characters, and funny events. Listed below are all of the important dates associated with our One School, One Book event. The more everyone participates, the better the reading experience will be for everyone!
January 6: One School, One Book Kick-Off Assembly
March 14: One School, One Book Movie Night, 6:30-8:00 PM
March 22: One School, One Book Pizza Trivia Night, 6:00 - 8:00 PM
We look forward to everyone’s participation in One School, One Book! And remember . . . it’s never too early to start preparing for the The Tale of Despereaux Community Trivia Night!!!!
